And yet another change to the schedule that many seasoned showgoers practically have hardwired in their brains. (If it’s Wednesday morning, I must be bopping to the beat at Michael Kors.) Peter Som just canceled his Fall 2009 show, due to the end of his partnership with Creative Design Studios. Som’s president and CEO Elana Posner told WWD that they were exploring “cost-effective” alternatives. As for the Bryant Park revolving door, opting out are Vera Wang, Betsey Johnson, and Monique Lhuillier, while Justin Timberlake’s William Rast will be rocking the tent for the first time along with perennial BP-fans Diane von Furstenberg, Carolina Herrera, Richard Chai, and Anna Sui. Joining them will be also be Tommy Hilfiger, who for the past few seasons showed in Avery Fisher Hall. All we’re saying is be sure to check your schedule.—Meenal Mistry

Yesterday we described an artist painting custom sunglasses as the $59 DVD player of downtown Manhattan. Well, we’ve just received word of the uptown version—and it sounds quite pleasant. Starting tonight, recently revived eighties-era accessories label MCM is hosting Champagne Tuesdays, every week until Christmas, at its tiny boutique at the Plaza Hotel, where they’ll be plying customers with drinks from 6 to 7 p.m. In addition to the bubbly, there’s a free gift with purchase. Sure, it’s a somewhat ominous sign that there’s more than a whiff of desperation lingering in the retail world, but hey, you take the good with the bad. Bottoms up.—Meenal Mistry

Sarah Jessica Parker was joined on the red carpet by just her husband on this occasion as they attended the New York City Center Reopening Gala yesterday evening.
Celebrities are lapping up Antonio Berardi’s Spring 2012 collection.
This is the third look in a week to hit the red carpet in the US.
Despite SJP’s black coat dress being from the Spring collection, it made for a perfect Fall look as she added patterned tights and black Manolo Blahnik pumps.
I love the way the skirt flares out and the top half has structured shoulders to give it an edge.
Beauty-wise, SJP opted for a messy bun, silver eye shadow and nude glossy lips.
Fred Leighton jewels and a velvet handbag provided the finishing touches.

Jamie-Lynn Sigler glowed in her shimmering Donna Karan plunging gown.
Sandra Oh was in my top 5 Best Dressed of the night wearing a gold embroidered Marchesa strapless gown.
This has to be one of her best ever looks on the red carpet.
Jeanne Tripplehorn wore a custom-made Naeem Khan rose gold pebble sequin cap sleeve dress with ruched front pegged skirt.
Her look was paired with gold Louboutin heels.
Eva La Rue makes up for her ALMA’s disaster by wearing a gold silk Ysa Makino gown, with a pleated front and a chunky crystal neckline.

Diane Kruger was looking as radiant as ever in a strapless two-tone YSL gown. She outshone everyone at this event.
The detail on the bodice is exquisite, and the blue is electrifying.

Becki Newton is wearing a stunning pair of YSL Spring 2009 heels, which I have been lusting after since seeing them on the runway last year.
Amanda from Ugly Betty would be green with envy watching Becki walk the red carpet in a glimmering green sequined YSL Spring 2009 strapless dress.

Claire Danes looked exquisite in a silk YSL Pre-Fall 2009 navy halter gown, which had a ruched bodice, and a draped skirt.
Her hair was styled in an elegant updo, and she carried a gorgeous gold jeweled YSL clutch.

British actress Emily Mortimer wore a round-necked maroon YSL Spring 2009 dress.
Her dress was accessorized with a black velvet with bow detailed belt, which sits a little too high for my liking, as it gives her quite an unflattering shape.

Zoe Saldana is gorgeous wearing a strapless green YSL Pre-Fall 2009 gown, which had a small black bowed detailed sash.
She completed the look with a matching emerald green satin clutch.

Claudia Schiffer only just pulls off this YSL Spring 2009 dress. On most of us this full-length, high neck gown would look like a sack, but on Claudia it’s just works.
Maybe it was the YSL caged sandals and the ruby red lips, that helped perfect her look.

Ginnifer Goodwin has been a bit off on the red carpet lately. But she managed to redeemed herself with this stunning strapless YSL print gown.
I love how it flows with a slightly ruffled and tiered fishtail skirt.

Kanye West and girlfriend Amber Rose are making the most of their new-found fashion status.
Amber Rose looked quite elegant from the waist up, wearing a white wrap dress, which had a thigh-high split, revealing her tattoo.
The look was completed with a black furry stole, a black fringed clutch, and black satin pumps.

Brooke Shields was sophisticated in strapless gown. The gown had a bow detail on the bodice, which seems to be the theme of the night.

Had Mary-Kate Olsen styled her hair better, I would have really liked this look, but an Olsen isn’t an Olsen without a hint of signature scruffiness, right?
Mary-Kate wears her black kimono with a silver belt, which matched her YSL clutch.

Parker Posey opted for a burgundy gown, with a matching furry bolero. The look was complete with a multiple gold linked necklace, and a YSL clutch.

Patricia Clarkson was elegant in a blue strapless YSL gown. I adore her feathered clutch.

Rose McGowan was glowing once again on the red carpet at the 26th Annual Genesis Awards on Saturday in Beverly Hills, California.
The actress, who just recently returned from Vienna, looked beautiful wearing an Alberta Ferretti gown.
Her silver metallic one-shouldered gown which gathered at the waist screams sexy.
Kimberly McDonald jewels, a purple Edie Parker clutch and black satin Brian Atwood pumps accessorized her look.
I love the sleek straight hair and the neutral makeup, but the clutch doesn’t quite work for me.

Sorry to disappoint, but Betsey Johnson did not cartwheel her way to the podium last night to accept her Lifetime Achievement award at the National Arts Club. Still, the forever-young designer did dance a little jig, throw rose petals about, and unroll a handmade timeline—collaged on bright pink felt, naturally—with the help of her longtime business partner Chantal Bacon. The rest of her cheering section included her brother and sister and daughter Lulu. It was a night for waxing nostalgic, and after over forty years in the game, Johnson has every right to. “I like to think my designs are timeless,” mused Johnson during the dinner. “But New York is always changing. The Hamptons with Warhol was so different. And the Soho that existed in the sixties when I opened my first shop on Thompson Street was such a new thing.” She continued, “Still, I know that the Betsey Johnson girl is out there.” For proof of that, you need look no further than the success of her reissued eighties looks at Opening Ceremony. In fact, they’ve been so successful, Johnson is continuing the collab for spring, plumbing her sixties archives this time around. Because while New York may permanently change, fashion inevitably circles back.—Bee-Shyuan Chang

Girl-about-town Natalie Joos spends her days casting for shows like ADAM and Yigal Azrouël and editorials for the likes of Mario Sorrenti and Mariano Vivanco, but her passion is vintage clothing. Joos’ blog, Tales of Endearment, spotlights Joos’ “Muses,” impeccably styled girls who share her secondhand obsession. In a new partnership with Style.com, Tales of Endearment’s subjects will preview their shoots right here on Style File.
On a recent trip to Montreal, Joos was struck by Aldo campaign manager Carla Robertson’s unabashed flair for bright, outlandish vintage fashions. Her style philosophy is a little less eccentric: Just have fun with it. The two vintage clothing hounds did just that when they started digging through Robertson’s closet for their photo shoot. “She loved my vintage Versace pants,” Robertson tells Style.com. “They’re a crazy combination of acid yellow, red, sky blue, and black, with Basquiat-inspired illustrations all over them.” Joos also found gems like Robertson’s chunky gold Flintstones necklace, a silk teacup blouse, and plenty of the only accessory Robertson loves more than shoes—vintage eyewear. “I started wearing them because I found contact lenses really unbearable and couldn’t deal with the idea of wearing one pair of glasses with every outfit,” she explains. Here, Robertson sounds off on these and her other vintage treasures.

Angelina Jolie supported Brad Pitt as he received the ‘Achievement Award’ at this year’s Palm Springs International Film Festival Awards Gala on Saturday evening.
The actress wore a greige Elie Saab Spring-Summer 2011 pleated jumpsuit (similar to the look below) with Jimmy Choo heels.
Angie’s jumpsuit can easily be mistaken for the flowy-gown type she tends to wear, but it’s nice to know there’s some variation to this particular look.
A low, draped back also makes up for the shapeless front.
Her softly tousled hair and neutral makeup look flawless, of course.
Brad was decked out in a Versace Spring 2012 black one-button notch lapel suit paired with a white button-down Versace shirt and a slim black Versace tie.

“Ferragamo was my first big international campaign when I started modeling,” Elettra Wiedemann tells Style.com. “The house has always had special meaning for me.”This week, she returns to the fold, serving as the exclusive model for the label’s online Fall 2011 trunk show, which marks the first time the Italian brand’s ready-to-wear offerings will be available on the Web. (Its current e-tail shop is accessories-only.) Wiedemann still remembers her first Ferragamo purchase. “I bought a pair of flats when I first started modeling to help my feet run around Milan and Paris to castings,” she says. This Friday, you can get your own—along with Fall’s houndstooth dresses, fur coats, glittering clutches, and more. The Fall 2011 trunk sale begins this Friday, August 5, at trunkshow.ferragamo.com.—Kristin Studeman
